Laurie joined the Murthy Law Firm in 2019. She represents companies and individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Department of State (DOS) and other government agencies with regard to both immigrant and nonimmigrant employment and family-based applications and petitions. In addition, Laurie performs analysis of criminal records to determine their effect on clients’ eligibility for immigration benefits; immigrant and nonimmigrant waivers of inadmissibility submitted at U.S. consulates abroad and at the USCIS from within the United States; petitions for U nonimmigrant status; and nunc pro tunc petitions and applications requesting waivers of the late filing.
Prior to joining the Murthy Law Firm, Laurie served as a Maryland Assistant State’s Attorney since 1996. After many years litigating as a state prosecutor, she is committed to representing clients on a wide range of immigration issues. Her background as a criminal trial attorney gives her unique insight and perspective into how the outcome of a case may affect an individual’s immigration status as well as the discretionary nature of the immigration process.
