VOTE NOW: Help Bring Science Education to More Children in Rural India!
22 Oct 2013The Murthy Law Firm is known for its legal acumen – the brains of our operation. But there are two sides to that coin. The MurthyNAYAK Foundation is the heart – offering support to select nonprofits in the U.S. and NGOs in India. A favorite organization with which we work is the Bangalore-based Agastya International Foundation, with a campus in Kuppam.
The Agastya International Foundation runs the largest science outreach program in the world. Mobile labs fan out from Agastya’s ever-expanding network of science centers, bringing molecular models, chemistry experiments, microscopes – all the tools of hands-on science – along with enthusiastic teachers who show how science is connected with everyday life.
Up to now, Agastya has mostly relied on a fleet of large commercial vans for its mobile labs, but plans are underway to extend its reach even further with the help of a new delivery vehicle: the TechLaBike. This motorbike will bring science lessons, lab equipment, and digital learning to children in rural Karnataka.
To fund the project, Agastya is seeking a Google Impact Challenge grant that would provide 30 TechLaBikes – enough to support a million student interactions and empower more than 3,000 teachers.
Google recently named Agastya as one of the Top 10 finalists for the Google Impact Challenge, and it has invited the public to select one of the final four grantees. Vote now, and help Agastya win the funding they need! From October 21 – 30, 2013, you can cast your vote for Agastya’s project at: https://impactchallenge.withgoogle.com/india2013#/agastya|vote.
As longtime supporters of the Agastya International Foundation, all of us here at the Murthy Law Firm and MurthyNAYAK Foundation wish Agastya the best of luck, and we urge you to vote now, and spread the word!
