After filing my I-485, I legally changed my name. Am I required to file anything with the USCIS?

Answer

You are not required to file anything. If you do nothing, your green card will be issued based on your prior name. In that situation, you will need to carry proof of your name change or file an I-90 after your green card is issued to change the name on your green card.

Of course, the preferable solution likely would be to notify the USCIS while the case is still pending. Instructions are on the USCIS website. (31.Jul.2024)
