On July 15, 2023, the official U.S. Department of State (DOS) Visa Appointment Service website for India will move to a new system for U.S. visa services. The DOS has asked that a U.S. visa applicant take certain steps to better ensure the appointment and payment information is correctly transferred to the new system.
Requested DOS Actions for U.S. Visa Applicants
The DOS has requested that visa applicants take the following steps:
- Ensure that all the data entered in the applicant’s profile is complete and correct, and that any necessary corrections are made as soon as possible.
- An applicant who plans to pay a visa application fee in the near future should do so before July 10, 2023. To accommodate the system change, payment services will be unavailable from July 11-14, 2023, and will resume on July 15, 2023.
- If a visa fee has been paid, but not yet associated with the applicant’s profile, the applicant should associate these as soon as possible by logging into the online profile and entering the payment receipt number.
- Travel or group coordinators or a family that has added dependent visa applicants to the primary applicant’s profile should make sure that each individual applicant has a unique eMail address. If two or more visa applicants are using the same eMail address, the information should be updated so that each visa applicant has a unique eMail address.
Conclusion
The system updates for the DOS Visa Appointment Service’s website may be an inconvenience in the short term, but hopefully will be beneficial in the long run. If any other important changes are made to the visa application system, details will be posted on MurthyDotCom.
