Murthy Law Firm Team Members Celebrate Holiday Season by Giving Back
15 Dec 2016The holidays are a magical time of year when we relax with friends and family, enjoy fellowship around a delicious meal, and give thanks for all of our blessings in life. But amidst the excitement and revelry of the season, it is important to remember the less fortunate among us – those who may not have anyone to turn to in times of need, enough food to eat, or even the promise of a warm bed to sleep in on a cold night. While the team at the Murthy Law Firm is committed to serving our community throughout the year through regular philanthropic events, we find it especially gratifying to give back during the holiday season. A few events that the firm has sponsored in recent weeks have allowed our team members to experience the joy of giving during this special time of year.
On December 2, 2016, the MurthyNAYAK Foundation partnered with the Murthy Law Firm for a Team Build Day with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, a nonprofit organization focused on building homes for those in need, and providing those homeowners with the knowledge and opportunity to maintain their homes throughout their lives. Several firm members worked side-by-side along with a future homeowner to begin framing her home in the Baltimore neighborhood of McCabe. Participating in the event, attorney Jessica Beaver said, “The Habitat for Humanity experience … was not only fun, but very inspiring to be working on the home with the future homeowner.”
On December 8, 2016, several Murthy Law Firm team members arrived at Paul’s Place, a facility in downtown Baltimore committed to providing a variety of services for those in need. Paul’s Place offers daily hot lunches and donated clothing, along with hot showers, laundry facilities, case managers, education programs, computer labs, and the opportunity for parents to participate in gift giving for their children during the holiday season. The volunteers sorted clothing and toy donations, and also served lunch in a sit down, restaurant style setting to foster a feeling of dignity and respect for guests of Paul’s Place. Murthy Law Firm team member Kim Spicer noted, “Their facility is a catch-all safe haven for those in need. Not only does it provide the immediate necessities, but it also continues to help them recover, heal, regain, and restore.”
Murthy Law Firm’s commitment to philanthropy has earned us a spot this year on the Baltimore Business Journal‘s Top Corporate Philanthropist’s list, an achievement that we are immensely proud of. But what gives us the most satisfaction is the act of volunteering our time, our labor, and our skills to those who are most in need – not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year.
