Latitude :
We wanted to give you a little latitudinal information to place the U.S. for
you in relationship to India.
At approximately 40 degrees latitude N. lie Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (in
the mid-Atlantic region); Columbus, Ohio; Quincy, Illinois (on the banks of
the Mississippi River); and Boulder, Colorado. On the west coast, it crosses
approximately 150 kilometers north of Sacramento, California. This is all
about 500 kilometers north of the northernmost point of Kashmir.
Mumbai (Bombay) lies at approximately 19 degrees latitude N. This is about
500 kilometers south of Brownsville, Texas and Miami, Florida (the
southernmost cities in the continental U.S.) which lie at approximately 25
degrees latitude N.
Climate :
India in January :
- Calcutta
has an average high
temperature of 27 degrees C. (82 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 13 degrees C. (55 degrees F.) and less than a single day
with rainfall.
- New Delhi
has an average high
temperature of 21 degrees C. (70 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 7 degrees C. (45 degrees F.) and 2 days with rainfall.
- Mumbai (Bombay)
has an average high
temperature of 28 degrees C. (82 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 19 degrees C. (66 degrees F.) and less than a day single
day with rainfall.
U.S. in January :
- Boston
has an average high
temperature of 2 degrees C. (35 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of -7 degrees C. (19 degrees F.) with 12 days of icy
precipitation.
- Miami
has an average high
temperature of 23 degrees C. (73 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 16 degrees C. (61 degrees F.) and 9 days with rainfall.
- Los Angeles
has an average high
temperature of 18 degrees C. (64 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 8 degrees C. (47 degrees F.) and 6 days with rainfall.
India in July :
- Calcutta
has an average high
temperature of 32 degrees C. (90 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 26 degrees C. (79 degrees F.) and 18 days with rainfall.
- New Delhi
has an average high
temperature of 36 degrees C. (97 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 27 degrees C. (81 degrees F.) and 8 days with rainfall.
- Mumbai (Bombay)
has an average high
temperature of 29 degrees C. (84 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 25 degrees C. (77 degrees F.) and 21 days with rainfall.
U.S. in July :
- Boston
has an average high
temperature of 27 degrees C. (81 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 17 degrees C. (63 degrees F.) with 10 days of rainfall.
- Miami
has an average high
temperature of 31 degrees C. (88 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 24 degrees C. (75 degrees F.) and 15 days with rainfall.
- Los Angeles
has an average high
temperature of 27 degrees C. (81 degrees F.) and an average low
temperature of 16 degrees C. (61 degrees F.) and no days with any
rainfall.
Time Differences :
The continental U.S. is divided into 4 time zones: Eastern, Central,
Mountain, and Pacific. The zones differ by one hour, the east coast being 3
hours ahead (later) than the west coast.

- Golden Dollar, is a newly minted coin
featuring native American heroine, Sacagawea which is made of a
manganese-brass alloy, developed by the U.S. Mint

The newer $5 - $100 bills in
circulation will look odd to you if you are familiar with older U.S.
currency.
