DOS Updates Three Visa Forms
Posted Aug 03, 2001

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has updated three visa application forms, for the E treaty trader / investor visa, the K fiance/e visa, and the returning resident visa. In this article of the MurthyBulletin, we provide the new names but there are no major, substantive changes in the forms or the information requested.

For the E visa, the form is known as the DS-156E, formerly the OF-156E. The K visa application, is now the DS-156K, formerly known as the OF-156K. The Application to Determine Returning Resident Status (for green card holders who have spent extended periods of time abroad) is now known as the DS-117, and was formerly the DSP-117.

The forms should be available on the DOS website www.state.gov. Paper versions of the forms will be available only from Embassies and Consulates directly, since they are printing the forms locally.
