The American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) is celebrating the 11th anniversary of the Immigrant Achievement Awards on Friday, March 24, 2006. Each year, AILF celebrates the indefatigable contributions of immigrants to the fabric of this great nation. This year's awardees are leaders in the nonprofit community, the U.S. Army, state government, and business. They are:
  • Mohammad Akhter, born in India

  • Kendall Frederick, born in Trinidad

  • Ana Sol Gutierrez, born in El Salvador

  • Emmanuel Irono, born in Nigeria

The event will also recognize two government officials who retired this year: Stephen K. Fishcel and William Yates. As leaders in their agencies in the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security, respectively, both gentlemen worked tirelessly to improve the immigration system from within.

AILF's mission is to highlight the positive contributions of immigrants, educate the public on immigration matters, and litigate, when necessary. The Murthy Law Firm and the Murthy Foundation have long supported AILF and continue to support their cause. Attorney Murthy and many of the attorneys from our firm will attend this event. More information on the awards ceremony and how one can support AILF is available on the AILF WebSite.
