2003 Immigrant
Achievement Awards in New Orleans
Posted
Jun 13, 2003
The Law Office of
Sheela Murthy is proud to be a sponsor once again for the Immigrant
Achievement Awards Ceremony. This event coincides with the annual conference
in immigration law to be held in New Orleans, LA, this year. The program is
on Friday, June 20, 2003 and is organized by the American Immigration Law
Foundation (AILF). The purpose of the event is to honor prominent immigrants
and to raise funds for the inspiring work of AILF.
This year MexicanAmericans are being honored. During the annual conference
in 2000, AILF recognized the contributions of Irish immigrants. Then, in
2001, Chinese immigrants were honored. And last year, in 2002, in San
Francisco we honored Indian immigrants. Honorees of past years have shared
their inspirational immigrant stories and life experiences, motivating to
all those present.
Proceeds from ticket sales and the sponsorship of law firms and corporations
benefit AILF and its work. AILF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
increasing public understanding of immigration law and policy, as well as
the value of immigration to American society. AILF litigates on various
immigration law issues against government agencies when required to enforce
the law and the U.S. Constitution. AILF provides educational programs and a
wide variety of services, all designed to advance fundamental fairness and
due process for immigrants. We at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy continue
to support AILF and its goals, both through our longstanding sponsorship of
AILF and by inviting visitors to MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin
readers to attend and sponsor the awards ceremony. Information on attending
this special evening is available on the
AILF WebSite. By honoring
prominent immigrants, we recognize their achievements and contributions to
our society and showcase the fact that the United States is a nation of
immigrants who continue to contribute to its success.
