Congress has adjourned for the holiday season and will not reconvene until
early 2007. At that time, the newly-elected members of Congress will assume
their roles as representatives and senators.

This year, the 109th Congress did pass positive immigration legislation in
the form of extending the J-1 Conrad waivers and H1Cs, altering the rules
for athletes entering on Ps, and H2Bs. They neither passed any comprehensive
immigration reform legislation, however, nor provided relief needed for the
H1B cap or the green card backlogs.

It is not clear what Congress's goals will be for next year. We at the
Murthy Law Firm continue to encourage employers and individuals to contact
members of Congress to let them know how immigration problems affect their
daily lives. We will continue to monitor Congressional activity and partner
with American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and other
pro-immigration advocacy efforts to push for fair and comprehensive
immigration reform in 2007.

Let us
work together to achieve what is good and right, both for U.S. businesses
and the employees that they need, to make America a better nation. Only when
these needs are met is the U.S. at its strongest economically and
competitively, which benefits everyone living in this country.
