Immigrants' List
Petitions Chertoff
Sends 10,000
signature petition calling for acceptance of I-485 Adjustment of Status
Filings
WASHINGTON, DC - Today Immigrants' List, the bipartisan PAC dedicated to
meaningful immigration reform, sent a 10,000 signature petition to Secretary
of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff. The petition was in response to the
US Citizenship and Immigration Services decision to reject applications to
adjust status (I-485) filings.
"We are calling on Secretary Chertoff to accept the I-485 adjustment of
status filings," said Executive Director Drew Seman. "Doing so is a step
towards restoring fairness to our broken immigration system."
Immigrants' List launched the petition on the evening of Thursday, July
12th. The petition is viewable online at
http://www.immigrantslist.org/Chertoff .
"The signature rate has been increasing exponentially since the launch of
the petition," said Seman. "We collected over 4,500 signatures yesterday
alone and expect the signatures to continue to pour in until Secretary
Chertoff, the Department of Homeland Security, and USCIS act on this matter.
