Texas Service Center Update - October 1998

The following is an update from the Texas Service Center regarding the inquiry telephone number changes and potential fingerprinting problems.

The telephone number for TSC inquiries has changed. The new number is 214/381-1423. (The old number was 767-7769).

With regard to the new fingerprint policies effective from December 3, 1997, many of the major metropolitan law enforcement agencies in Texas have opted out of the fingerprint business. Many others on the authorized INS Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) list either do not have the FD- 258s or refuse to prepare the prints. There appears to be a tremendous lack of information/understanding on the part of the authorized LEAs.

INS has agreed to address these issues and respond to the American Immigration Lawyers Association with any updates.
