INS Retracts Information on H1B Usage by Top 20 Employers
Posted
Jan 17, 2000
In another statement issued by the INS, they apologized for the error in
the information provided regarding the list of the top 20 H1B employers in
the U.S. Apparently the INS has been providing information, upon request,
since June 1999 of companies using the maximum number of H1Bs each fiscal
year. Since the information is not accurate, INS confirmed that it should be
disregarded and they hope to resolve data reporting issues in the H-1B
program with respect to future requests for such data.
The Law Office of Sheela Murthy believes that this error of the INS (in the
list of the top 20 H1B employers using the H1B Program) may be connected
with the glitch in computing the H1B usage. Apparently, some of these
companies complained that the INS has grossly exaggerated the number of new
H1B Petitions filed and approved by such companies and had requested that
INS issue an apology until their calculations were verified.
