When Kristi Kincaid came to work at the Murthy Law Firm (MLF) in 2004,
she was 22, and began her career in a very public role, as the friendly
voice on the other end of the phone, handling client & potential
business calls every day. At that time, Kristi says, she was just a kid,
and her years at the Murthy Law Firm have made her an adult. Versatility
has been the hallmark of Kristi’s career at MLF, and she has taken on
many new challenges since she arrived.

After a year working on the front lines, as a receptionist, Kristi
gradually took on more responsibilities, all the while gaining knowledge
about our procedures, our clients, and the immigration process. In July,
just before we celebrated her 5th anniversary with the firm, Kristi took
on a new portfolio. As MLF’s new Client Services Manager, Kristi will be
a central point of contact for clients, answering client questions about
the firm’s services and fee structure, and generally pointing people in
the right direction.

Kristi is enthusiastic about her work at the Murthy Law Firm, because
it’s a supportive atmosphere, and she says it feels more like a family
than a job. "I feel really lucky for the opportunities Sheela has given
me; she has pushed me forward to bigger and better things." Kristi said
that, shortly after she started here in 2004, she had to work late one
night to finish a project. Sheela saw Kristi at her desk, and asked why
she was still there so late. Kristi explained about the project, and
Sheela thanked her for staying late, then pulled out a $20 bill, and
said she should take herself to the movies. "Imagine getting $20 to go
to the movies, just for doing your job!" Kristi said. Speaking of
Sheela, she says, “She wants to make sure people thrive while they’re
here.”

Asked what she likes most at MLF, Kristi says, “I love the clients. I
love how intelligent they are, and how much they go through to be here
in the United States. Every time I talk with a client who is in the
I-485 process, talk to them about their family, about all they are going
through, it makes me appreciate being a U.S. citizen, and appreciate
being able to help them."
